Newcastle United have completed the signing of under-15 attacking midfielder Leon Mukumbira from Peterborough United, according to the Secret Scout.
The Secret Scout – a reputable source for youth football and transfer news – has claimed on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that Newcastle will continue to search for talented youngsters across academies in England to add to their youth ranks.
A picture of Mukumbira at the facilities of the Magpies academy was uploaded to confirm the move.
The attacking sensation attended a regional FA talent ID camp for players eligible to play for England under-15s back in October 2023
However, the 14-year-old forward was not recalled for another camp, but has joined Newcastle and will look to earn a professional contract going forward.
The Toons were unable to get in the desired transfer targets of manager Eddie Howe during the summer window but ended up signing Miodrag Pivas, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy and William Osula, while Lewis Hall joined permanently after his impressive loan spell.
They will continue to focus on strengthening their academy as signing the hidden young gems across the land can potentially save them millions in the transfer market in the future.
Newcastle made £65 million selling Elliot Anderson (£35m) and Yankuba Minteh (£30m)in the summer to appease their Premier League Profitability and Sustainability fears, with the latter not making any appearance for them after joining for less than £6m last summer.
Mukumbira may end up getting sold for a profit if he does not break into the first-team in the future, but he will hope to prove his quality going forward, and the club will give him everything he needs to become a Premier League star.
