Ben Sheaf was due to be assessed today to see if he will be fit enough to feature in Coventry City’s game against Swansea at the CBS Arena this weekend.
The Sky Blues midfielder made another attempted comeback from his pre-season ankle ligament injury when he went on as a substitute in the second half of Wednesday night’s thrilling Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham, but left the field in some discomfort and had to ice his injury in the dressing room.
Providing an update on the influential skipper, manager Mark Robins said: “He didn’t train yesterday (Thurs). I’m waiting for the players to come in and once they have had their usual interventions and done their pre-hab we should know a little bit more. But I have to see everyone in training, see who trains and who doesn’t train and make decisions from there.”
There’s some good news, meanwhile, regarding Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Joel Latibeaudiere and Jay Dasilva, the latter two of whom sat out the midweek cup tie.
Sakamoto was an unused substitute against Spurs – the first time he’s appeared in a squad since limping off with an ankle injury at half-time against Norwich before the international break – but the Japanese winger is still not 100 percent.
