Heung-min Son is still getting up to speed
Son has historically tended to be a slow starter, usually taking a few games to get his sharpness back before usually coming into his own a few months into the campaign.
That has seemingly been the case this year as well, with the South Korean being well short of his best in the first few matches of the campaign.
However, against Brentford, the Tottenham captain showed signs that he is now clicking into gear as he was a constant threat in-behind and combined very well with the likes of Dominic Solanke and James Maddison.
Son would have been disappointed not to get on the scoresheet but he did pick up two assists, setting up both Maddison and Brennan Johnson.
Heung-min Son is making key passes for fun
WhoScored have now revealed that the forward made seven key passes against the Bees, which is more than any player has this in a single game this season.
While it is still early days, I really liked what I saw of the Solanke-Son partnership, with the centre-forward’s ability to drop deep and turn on the ball allowing the South Korean to make those devastating out-to-in runs that he used to make when he was playing alongside Harry Kane.
Let’s face it, Son is only going to get better and better as the season goes on – he always does.
