The Boston Bruins’ contract standoff with goaltender Jeremy Swayman appears to be more worrisome than initially thought. On the latest episode of “The Chris Johnston Show,” released on Monday, Johnston suggested a “six, seven, maybe” level of concern over the situation from the Bruins perspective.

Johnston based his guess on a scale going from “mid-level” at five all the way up to “full panic mode” at 10, which makes that 6-to-7 level of worry rather concerning for Boston. Speaking with co-host Julian McKenzie, Johnston acknowledged the growing tension as Swayman’s holdout continues. While Johnston pointed out that Swayman could sign at any time, he noted that the longer this drags on, the more concerning it becomes for Bost

“(Swayman) could sign later (Monday) and be at practice on Tuesday,” Johnston said. “There’s still time. But the longer it goes without any sense of movement, the closer it gets to that panic option.

“This is a pretty important player, after all. Every day that Swayman remains unsigned, the concern meter grows a little bit in Boston.” Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman (1) warms up.
