Man City boss Pep Guardiola has shown his class with a message of support for Darren Eales and more praise for Eddie Howe’s Mags ahead of today’s 12.30pm kick off.

After sad news broke yesterday confirming our CEO is set to step down after a blood cancer diagnosis, Pep wished Eales well in his recovery when speaking to the media in Manchester, sending words of encouragement to him and his family as he prepares for treatment.

On the Newcastle test that awaits this lunchtime, he described us as “one of the most tough” sides to face, especially at St James’ Park; which he described as a “marvellous stadium.” However, the Spaniard insists his City side are “ready to go to battle” to build on last weekend’s draw with Arsenal. Watch what he had to say below:

Guardiola on Darren Eales – “We wish him, on behalf of all of Man City and all of us here, the best on his recovery and I’m pretty sure he’ll have the best doctors to take care of him and recover him with his family. Hopefully he can go through, because this is the most important thing…being healthy”

Guardiola on today’s game – “Newcastle is Newcastle… The team is one of the most tough, and strongest, especially away for the atmosphere in this marvellous stadium. And we are going to be ready to go to battle…”

With Rodri out and Kevin De Bruyne also missing, it may good time to play Man City, although we have our own issues to solve after last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Fulham, with Alexander Isak (broken toe) a doubt of our own.
