Wolves club captain Mario Lemina broke down in tears on the pitch after his team’s 2-1 loss against Liverpool on Saturday (28 September.)

The Midlands club went behind at the end of the first half after Ibrahima Konate’s header, but they did get back into the game courtesy of a Rayan Ait-Nouri goal.

Unfortunately for Gary O’Neil’s side, they gave away a penalty five minutes later which Mohamed Salah converted it to give the Premier League giants all three points.

The result continued Wolves’ winless start to the Premier League season, which has left the club bottom of the Premier League after the opening six games.

The defeat appeared to devastate the 31-year-old, with the live television footage showing him hunched on the ground with his shirt over his face and clearly in floods of tears for an extended time after the final whistle.

The club captain had no problem showcasing his feelings in this moment as teammates and coaches comforted him on the pitch.Wolves

Wolves have only scored six goals this season and no team have conceded more than them at this stage.

Lemina has played every single minute of this Premier League campaign, contributing one goal and one assist.
