Chris Beesly has backed Sean Dyche to axe Jesper Lindstrom in favour of Jack Harrison for the clash between Everton and Newcastle United.
The Toffees will look to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they face the Magpies on Saturday (5 October) having beaten Crystal Palace at Goodison Park last time out.
Lindstrom started the win over the Eagles but was hooked by Dyche at halftime and Liverpool Echo journalist Beesley believes the Blues boss will likely continue with Harrison on the right wing ahead of the Danish midfielder.
Speaking on the Royal Blue YouTube channel (30 September) he said: “At this stage, you’d probably think so.
“He’s given Lindstrom three starts in a row now with a mixed bag of results. Jack Harrison is probably the more sort of proven option so given the fact Dyche puts a lot of stock into what he thinks he can get from players in terms of trust, an early shout for that one would be for Jack to return.
“It’s just good that they’ve got genuine competition for places in these types of areas now.”
What has happened to Jesper Lindstrom at Everton and Goodison Park?
It is clear that Lindstrom is a very talented footballer, but Dyche and the team around him at Goodison Park need to find a way to make the Danish midfielder more consistent in the final third.
Too often, the 24-year-old finds himself in excellent positions in and around the opposition’s penalty area, but for whatever reason he doesn’t seem to be able to convert his chances or make the right decision.
