West Ham are set to battle Aston Villa for the signature of a La Liga star, but it could be a win-win situation.
Niclas Fullkrug’s injury has kept him sidelined for much longer than anyone expected, with him now likely to be unavailable until after the international break.
Unfortunately, his unimpressive start coupled with his damaged achilles has left some fans wishing that they signed another striker instead. In fact, if he doesn’t start performing when he returns, the Hammers may be forced to look for another striker as early as the January transfer window.
As a result, West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Valencia’s Hugo Duro in the coming windows, according to Caught Offside. The Spaniard scored a solid 13 La Liga goals last season, and already has 2 in his first 6 games of this campaign. At just 24-years-old, he is still considered a young prospect who has the potential to grow into an important player for the Spanish national team.
While he is only expected to cost €25-30 million, signing him will be anything but simple due to great interest from Aston Villa.
Thankfully, this could be a real win-win situation for the Irons. If Villa end up signing the forward, this could reopen the door for the East London side to sign Jhon Duran. Either option would be a brilliant addition to the side and could be what Lopetegui needs to get West Ham back on track.
