Put more respect on Scott McTominay's name! Man Utd need more players like Scotland's unlikely goalscoring hero | Goal.com Nigeria

Darren Bent speculates that the sensational ace who cost £35 may not even make the current Everton roster.

Darren Bent has questioned whether Scott McTominay would get into Everton’s starting line-up.

Speaking on talkSPORT, pundit claimed that McTominay may ‘only just’ start in a very good Toffees midfield.

After starting only two games in the Premier League for Manchester United this season, the 26-year-old continues to be linked with a move away.Put more respect on Scott McTominay's name! Man Utd need more players like Scotland's unlikely goalscoring hero | Goal.com Nigeria

The Red Devils reportedly slapped a £40 million price tag on his name in the summer and he was linked with the likes of Fulham and West Ham, however he ended up remaining at Old Trafford.

Despite his lack of game time, McTominay has enjoyed an eye-catching week after netting two added time goals against Brentford and scoring a wrongly disallowed stunner of a free-kick for Scotland. The midfielder, who Bent claims turns into Yaya Toure on international duty, has six goals in as many games in the EURO Qualifiers.

Despite his heroics, Bent admitted he was unsure how many Premier League midfields McTominay would actually get into – including Everton.

“I was looking at the Premier League earlier and I was thinking, who’s midfield would he get into?” Bent questioned.

“Everton’s one where I look at Doucoure, I look at Onana and I look at Gueye. I like James Garner, he’s a good player. Would he get in there? I think he would, just.Put more respect on Scott McTominay's name! Man Utd need more players like Scotland's unlikely goalscoring hero | Goal.com Nigeria

“Doucoure’s been brilliant and I like Onana, he’s got good quality.

“I think he would get into most squads, but it’s whether he would walk straight into someone’s team.”

Scott McTominay? It’s a silly question

Everton’s midfield have looked a lot better in recent weeks, if you remove Idrissa Gana Gueye from the equation.

However, Darren Bent is crazy if he even has to question whether Scott McTominay would get into their team. The answer is 100%.

The Scot is underrated at Manchester United and is just unfortunate that he has been seen as a defensive midfielder, because he is clearly very talented when going forward.

McTominay would massively improve the Toffees’ squad and they would be very lucky to get him, though it would be a surprise to see the Red Devils not take advantage of his goalscoring prowess after the international break.
