Duke football’s nine-win regular season just places them in the top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Duke Blue Devils came close to cracking the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday, following their thrilling 23-17 comeback win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Despite trailing 17-3 early in the third quarter, Duke mounted a remarkable turnaround, largely thanks to quarterback Maalik Murphy’s stellar second-half performance. The Texas transfer completed 16 of his final 20 passes, amassing 153 yards and scoring two touchdowns. His game-winning 39-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Moore as time expired sealed the victory. With a potential bowl game win, the Blue Devils still have a shot at a 10-win season.

Duke garnered 39 votes in the coaches poll, unofficially placing them 27th, just shy of the top 25 and second among teams in the “Receiving Votes” category.

Meanwhile, four ACC teams secured spots in the top 25, led by the SMU Mustangs at No. 7. SMU wrapped up an undefeated conference slate with a dominant 38-6 win over California and will face the No. 17 Clemson Tigers in the ACC Championship Game. Miami, once the favorite for the title, dropped to No. 14 after a 42-38 upset loss to Syracuse, which improved to 9-3 and debuted in the rankings at No. 25.
