In Alberta, the actor from Dances With Wolves is facing further sexual assault accusations.
According to court documents, he was the leader of a cult-like group called The Circle. Police in Alberta have issued

warrants for Nathan Chasing Horse, a former actor in the film Dances With Wolves, on nine counts of sexual exploitation, sexual assault, and removing a child under the age of 16 from Canada.

According to a news release from the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service, the investigation has lasted several years, with one of the offenses dating back to 2005.

The actor has been held in a Las Vegas jail since his arrest in January in southern Nevada, where he is charged with 18 felonies, including sexual assault on a juvenile, child abuse, and kidnapping.

According to court filings, he was the leader of The Circle, a cult-like organization. According to documents, he utilized his position to earn the trust of Indigenous families and their children, as well as to take underage wives.

The Nevada prosecution was halted after the actor, who played the young Sioux character Smiles a Lot in Kevin Costner’s 1990 Oscar-winning picture, requested that the case be dismissed by the state’s Supreme Court.

His attorneys have claimed that his accusers desired to have sex with him.

Chasing Horse is also being prosecuted in Montana and British Columbia.

According to the arrest record in the United States, a British Columbia woman reported Chasing Horse to RCMP, who contacted Las Vegas police, resulting in the investigation that led to his arrest.

The woman claimed she met the actor when she was 13 years old while he was doing ceremonies in Canada. She claims he began having sex with her when she was 17 years old.

Tsuut’ina police, who serve the First Nation west of Calgary, stated that prosecuting Chasing Horse in multiple legal jurisdictions needed extensive planning and collaboration. The Tsuut’ina band council approved a resolution in 2015 prohibiting the actor from attending any community activities.

More details about the Alberta probe will be disclosed on Wednesday.
