Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is convinced that Dane Scarlett will grow as a player over the course of his loan spell at Portman Road Stadium.
Scarlett is very highly thought of at Spurs, with many considering him to be a future first-team prospect.
In fact, Ange Postecoglou even brought on the striker in the second half of the Carabao Cup clash against Fulham back in August and remarked at the time that he had been impressed by the teenager in training (Football.London).
The Spurs academy graduate spent last season on loan at Portsmouth and things did not go according to plan for him at Fratton Park.
Big season ahead for Dane Scarlett at Ipswich
He will be hoping to do better at Ipswich but so far this season, Scarlett has not made a single start for the Tractor Boys, coming off the bench for all four of his appearances in the Championship (Transfermarkt).
McKenna knows Scarlett well, having worked with the striker during his time as Tottenham’s academy coach and the 37-year-old has now hinted that the youngster’s time will come.
He told The Times: “Dane’s a young striker, high pedigree, who’s had to be patient as he arrived late in the window but a really good talent. He’ll grow with us.”
Spurs Web Opinion
One can understand why McKenna does not want to change a winning combination, with Ipswich starting the season on impressive form and currently sitting second in the table.
However, the 19-year-old will likely get his chances sooner rather than later and he will have to grab them with both hands.
