Stephen Craigan, a BBC Sport analyst, thinks he has “never witnessed” a greater on-field transformation than that of Rangers star Tom Lawrence vs St Johnstone.

The former Motherwell defender was commenting on the play of the returning Welsh international midfielder, who made his first appearance in over a year at the weekend, on BBC Sportscene.
With the early portion of Tom Lawrence’s Rangers career plagued by injuries, there is great hope that he may make a significant impact on the campaign, and both Stephen Craigan and Neil McCann have analyzed his performance.

After a poor start, the BBC analyst admits he was taken aback by Tom Lawrence’s turnaround – a footballing first for Stephen Craigan.

Neil McCann and Stephen Craigan both admired Tom Lawrence.
“Stephen (Craigan) and I were talking about [Tom Lawrence] upstairs,” Neil McCann explained.
“He started out wide, and when Michael [Beale] moved him into a more central position, the first thing he did was take off.”

“Raskin is pleased [with Matondo’s goal], but Tom Lawrence is positioned behind the two holding midfielders.”

“His ability to see and play things is good, but I also like him here because he gets in behind midfielders.”

“When he’s there, he’s forceful, he can see a pass, he opens the game up, and I thought he was much more involved.”
