QPR defender Jimmy Dunne has been granted the all-clear to return to duty.
Dunne has been sidelined since injuring his shoulder in a pre-season friendly against Oxford United.
Dunne is expected to return to the team for the visit of Coventry on September 30th, according to manager Gareth Ainsworth, but would have been well enough to play in this week’s games against Swansea and Birmingham if Rangers required him to be.
Rangers have options at center-back, having signed Morgan Fox and Steve Cook since Dunne’s injury, while Jake Clarke-Salter has appeared as a substitute in the last two games.
“Jimmy could well feature in the next couple of games (after Swansea on Tuesday),” Ainsworth explained.
“It’s probably too soon for Jimmy tomorrow night.” If necessary, I believe we could bring him on, but I believe he is more interested in the Coventry game.”
Dunne’s recuperation has been faster than predicted; at one point, it was feared he would be out for three months.
“I have to say the medical staff have been incredible with him,” Ainsworth remarked.
“They’ve accelerated his program, not putting it at risk, but getting so much in there.”
“It’s been great what they’ve done with Jimmy, and I’m really looking forward to getting him back.”
Rangers will be missing Jack Colback for the next three games since he was sent off in Saturday’s loss to Sunderland.
