Amazing Coventry City player Makes Shock Transfer Switch

Former Coventry City defender Todd Kane has signed for Gibraltar-based side Manchester 1962 FC on a free transfer, as confirmed via a social media post on the club’s Twitter page.

The 30-year-old became a free agent during the summer after his contract with the Championship side expired and after recovering from his injury, he has made a surprise switch abroad rather than remain in the UK.TRANSFER: Coventry City sign Todd Kane! - News - Coventry City

Kane joined Coventry City in August 2021 from Queens Park Rangers and made 41 appearances for the football club, scoring once and assisting a further five goals during his time at the CBS Arena.

However, the defender spent the second half of last season on loan with League One side Charlton Athletic but suffered a serious injury during the early stages and only made five appearances for the club.

The full-back burst onto the professional scene with Chelsea but has since had spells with 11 different teams ranging from the likes of Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Preston to sides abroad such as FC Groningen and NEC Nijmegen.

Kane’s new side (Manchester 1962 FC) currently sits fourth in the Gibraltar National League standings and are at home to Mons Calpe tomorrow before travelling to Lincoln Red Imps next weekend.

Kane has spent almost his entire career in the English Championship, which makes it very surprising to see him drop out of English football altogether.

However, judging by his interview it seems as though there is a separate reason why he’s made the decision to move to Gibraltar and it will be intriguing to see how he gets on.
