PHIL PARKINSON goes back to Bradford tomorrow for just the second time since his stint in the Bantams hotseat and he’s expecting a front-foot performance from Wrexham in a bid to keep the good run going.

After leaving the west Yorkshire club, Parkinson took charge of Bolton Wanderers who came from two-nil down to draw 2-2 at Bradford in February 2017 and claim a valuable point on route to promotion.

“I have got some fantastic memories of being at Bradford,” said Parkinson.

“I have only been back there once since I left with Bolton and we drew 2-2. It was a fantastic game.

“Us and Bradford were vying at the top of the table. We were two-nil down at half-time but turned it around second half.

“We played really well and it was an important point, we were able to get promotion in the end.

“Every point adds to the tally and the most important thing is we will be going there to really play on the front foot like we know we can, and give them as many problems as we can.

“We will set ourselves up to be strong without the ball but equally look to threaten Bradford at every opportunity because that is when we are at our best.Phil Parkinson: Sunderland part company with manager | Football News | Sky Sports

“We are at our best when we are a really progressive team and we will be looking to do that.”

Mid-table Bradford have won all three games since sacking former Wales boss Mark Hughes earlier in the month  and they have already beaten Wrexham, knocking them out of the League Cup on penalties at The STóK Cae Ras in August.

But Parkinson knows his side are in good form.

“Bradford have had a bit of resurgence but we will go there and give it everything we have got to keep our run going,” he added.Phil Parkinson: Sunderland part company with manager | Football News | Sky Sports

“We are going there confident and with a real focus on how we have got to play.

“It’s a special day going back for myself and Steve Parkin but equally, there’s a real focus about us in terms of a concentration level on what’s required once the whistle goes at 3pm.”
