The surprise visit of the ‘Anchorman’ actor to Wrexham occurred in February, with the comic having been spotted enjoying himself in the town. Having washed down a pint at the globally renowned pub The Turf, he cheered the Dragons on to a 3-1 win over National League opponents Wealdstone FC.

Now the world-famous star’s shock visit to the Racecourse Ground has been immortalised on film as part of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ series. Ferrell is one of a host of household names to have made the trip to North Wales in recent times, alongside Paul Rudd and Hugh Jackman.

Staying true to his reputation as one of Hollywood’s funniest men, the ‘Elf’ favourite could not resist making some jokes upon his arrival. Meeting stars, including Red Dragons talisman Paul Mullin, he made his way around the Wrexham dressing room while shaking hands with the players.

The 56-year-old could not resist making a joke at the expense of the League Two outfit’s chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds as he went around either. In his classic tongue-in-cheek style, he queried: “Do you guys like Ryan and Rob or not really?”Richard Curtis: Ferrell should have had Oscar nomination for Elf - BBC News

With his question receiving an understandably muted response, Ferrell then probed further, adding: “You can be honest,” prompting a chorus of laughter that swept around the changing room as the Wrexham players appeared slightly overawed by his presence. The ‘Step Brothers’ star was not put off by the lack of reply from the team’s stunned players, however, as he then gave his own verdict on Wrexham’s co-owners. In a parting shot, he then made a joke at Reynolds’ expense, adding: “Rob is good. Ryan? Dodgy Canadian.”

Later on, the 56-year-old was seen visiting what appeared to be the physiotherapy room at Wrexham’s home ground, where he noticed a player receiving a massage. In his typical style, he also made fun of the situation, by saying: “That is a beefy thigh there. Get in there, that’s like a ham hock.”

He then asked if the treatment was “relaxing or painful or both,” to which the player replied that it was a “bit of both.” Following on from this he also had a humorous exchange with the staff in the room, asking if he “needed a rub down,” before adding, “These are magic hands.”Richard Curtis: Ferrell should have had Oscar nomination for Elf - BBC News

Perhaps Ferrell’s ease in the situation partially comes from his role as a co-owner at Los Angeles FC, where he is famously hands-on in the running of the club. He joined the likes of basketball legend Magic Johnson and USWNT icon Mia Hamm as a shareholder at the MLS outfit.
