Subject: “I’m a Winner” – Mike McCarthy’s Commitment to the Cowboys

Dear Jerry Jones,

I hope this message finds you well. As we head into the next season, I feel it’s the right time to express not only my gratitude for the opportunity to coach the Dallas Cowboys, but also my deep commitment to continuing the journey with this team. I want to make it clear that I am here to stay and ready to lead this organization forward with a mindset built on the foundation of being a winner. The Dallas Cowboys have a rich legacy, and I intend to honor that legacy while continuing to pursue championships and success.

First and foremost, the opportunity to work with this team has been nothing short of extraordinary. The Cowboys’ tradition, passion, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with my own personal coaching philosophy. In my time here, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a talented and passionate group of players, coaches, and support staff. The potential we’ve unlocked together has been significant, and I believe we are on the verge of something even greater. I’m proud of what we’ve built so far, and the hunger for success that drives me is stronger than ever.

The road to success in the NFL is never without its challenges. We’ve faced adversity, but we’ve also made tremendous progress. From the development of young players like Dak Prescott, to the performance of our defense and special teams, there have been numerous moments that show the direction we’re heading in. Our playoff appearances, our consistency in the regular season, and the resilience of our team have all highlighted that we’re on the right path.

But I’m not satisfied with just being good. I’m here because I believe that the Cowboys are a championship-caliber team, and I have the experience, leadership, and vision to guide us to that ultimate goal. I am a winner. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to be part of teams that have succeeded at the highest levels, including winning a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. I know what it takes to get there, and I’m fully committed to bringing that same winning mentality and work ethic to this team.

I understand the stakes. The Cowboys’ fan base is one of the most passionate and loyal in the world. The expectations are high, and that’s exactly what I want. I thrive in an environment where excellence is the standard, and the pressure to succeed is not something I shy away from—it’s something I embrace. Every decision I make, every practice we run, every game plan we implement is driven by one goal: to win.

I know that every year is a new challenge, and the landscape of the NFL is constantly evolving. However, the core values that I believe in remain unchanged. We must be relentless in our pursuit of improvement, hold ourselves to the highest standards of accountability, and most importantly, trust the process. It’s easy to point to wins and losses, but what truly defines a winning culture is the daily commitment to doing the right things, even when the going gets tough.

I also recognize that in order to be successful, we must continue to build a team that not only has talent but also the right mindset and culture. The relationships we’ve forged within this organization, from the players to the coaching staff, are crucial to our success. It’s about building trust, creating a shared vision, and ensuring that everyone, from the front office to the last player on the roster, is pulling in the same direction. I’m dedicated to making sure our team continues to grow together, and we do so with the belief that we can achieve greatness.

I understand that the business side of football is complex. There will always be questions about the future, about expectations, and about changes that need to be made. But let me make it clear: I am not here for anything less than winning championships. This is what drives me, and it’s the legacy I want to build here with the Cowboys. I’m in this for the long haul. My commitment to this team, to you, and to the Cowboys’ faithful is unwavering.

When I say I’m a winner, I’m not just talking about my past accomplishments. I’m talking about the future. The Dallas Cowboys have the potential to be one of the most dominant teams in the league, and I believe we can get there. We’ve got the pieces in place, and we’ve got the right attitude. Now, it’s about continuing to push ourselves to be better every single day.

I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but I also know that this journey is far from over. Every step we take, every game we play, is a part of building something special. There’s a lot of work to be done, but there’s no one I’d rather do it with than this group of players and coaches. Together, we can accomplish anything.

Jerry, I am fully committed to staying with the Cowboys and helping this team reach its ultimate goal. I know there will be ups and downs, but I am not here to make excuses. I am here to win. We’ve already shown glimpses of what we’re capable of, and I truly believe that with continued hard work, discipline, and dedication, we will be able to reach the pinnacle of the NFL once again.

I understand that the business of football is about results, and I’m committed to delivering those results. But I also believe in the process. As a coach, I’ve always believed in the power of strong leadership, clear communication, and the importance of keeping the team focused on the things that truly matter. We will continue to develop our players, make adjustments where necessary, and build a winning culture that will be sustained year after year.

As I look forward to the future with the Cowboys, I am confident in our ability to contend for a championship. We have the talent, we have the leadership, and we have the determination to make it happen. The road may be long, but I know this team is capable of achieving greatness. My commitment to the Cowboys is unwavering, and I will continue to give everything I have to help us get there.

I am a winner, and with your continued trust, Jerry, we will make sure the Dallas Cowboys return to their rightful place at the top of the NFL.

Thank you for your support, and let’s continue to build something special.

Sincerely,
Mike McCarthy
Head Coach, Dallas Cowboys
