Carlisle could find themselves landing as £6million windfall if Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing via his Patreon page on Sunday (22 October), the newspaper journalist reported that Branthwaite, 21, is being linked with a big-money move away from Goodison Park in January.

It is understood that “talk of a potential £60million deal has eyes watering in Carlisle” with the League Two club holding a 10 per cent sell-on clause on the defender.Everton

It is understood that Carlisle also saw cash boosts from sell-on clauses this year when Dean Henderson and James Trafford moved clubs.

It is understood that if cash-strapped Everton opt to sell Branthwaite in January, Carlisle could be looking at a £6million boost.

If someone offers £60million for Branthwaite, Everton had better accept it because that kind of offer is stupidly beyond what Branthwaite is actually worth.

Sure, the former PSV loanee has done well at Goodison Park this season, playing a major role in the recent uptick in form that’s seen Sean Dyche’s side win two of their last four Premier League games.

However, £60million for a player with just 17 Premier League appearances to his name is ridiculous money that should not be shirked should an offer come in during January.

Unfortunately, we doubt it will because that kind of money is so unrealistic that we have no idea why Nixon is mentioning it.

EvertonIt’s obviously good news for Everton and Carlisle if it happens but who on earth would stump that up? Only teams like Manchester City would be so willing to spend that amount and they obviously don’t need Branthwaite.

Everton need to raise funds as quickly as possible too and that will become even more urgent if the 777 takeover collapses.

Clubs know that and if they want Branthwaite, we’d imagine the bidding to start somewhere closer to £10million or £20million for the centre-back.
