Mark Robins is hopeful that he will have influential midfielder Jamie Allen back for Coventry City’s trip to Rotherham United on Wednesday night. The 28-year-old had already missed the start of the season due to a heart scare but showed how much he has been missed when he returned to the starting line-up to excellent effect against QPR three games before the international break. So to lose him for the trip to Bristol in the first game back after the pause in the fixtures was a significant blow for City.

Asked about his absence from the matchday squad at Ashton Gate, Robins revealed after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat: “He’s done his calf but I am hopeful that he will be able to train in the next 24/48 hours.
