Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Everton transfer target Crysencio Summerville.

Writing on Twitter, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leeds United attacker Crycensio Summerville rejected the chance to join Everton, Bournemouth, and Burnley in the recent summer transfer window.

According to Dutch outlet 1908.nl, Leeds United put a £10 million price tag on Summerville in the summer.

The Yorkshire club will certainly have been delighted to retain the Netherlands under-21 international’s services. Summerville has been in fine form so far this season in the second tier of English football. In nine Championship outings, the winger has racked up four goals and two assists.

It is therefore unsurprising that top flight clubs look set to try and prise the youngster away from Elland Road in January. Whether Everton are once again amongst the hunting pack remains to be seen.

The Toffees have recently conducted business with Leeds United, as Sean Dyche was able to capture Jack Harrison on loan in the summer. This suggests that strong lines of communication currently exist between the two clubs, which could aid Everton if they were to go back in for Summerville.

He is certainly a “special player” who showed in flashes last season that he can have an impact at Premier League level. Given his youth, it seems safe to assume that the best is yet to come from Summerville too.

Another question that remains, though, is whether Summerville is even needed at Goodison Park. With Harrison, Dwight McNeil, Arnaut Danjuma, and James Garner, Dyche’s squad is well-stocked in the wide areas. With transfer funds at a premium for Everton, they would be better served by investing their limited wealth in defensive and central midfield
