The Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball team has achieved a significant milestone by entering the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 rankings for the first time since 2011, securing the No. 23 spot.
This accomplishment comes under the leadership of head coach Mike White, now in his third season with the Bulldogs. The team’s impressive 14-2 overall record and 2-1 mark in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play have been bolstered by recent victories over then-No. 6 Kentucky and then-No. 17 Oklahoma. These back-to-back wins against ranked opponents are the first for Georgia since the 2006-07 season.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs face a challenging schedule with upcoming games against top-tier SEC teams. They are set to play No. 6 Tennessee, known for its formidable defense, and No. 1 Auburn, which leads the SEC in scoring.
Coach White and his players have emphasized a focus on continuous improvement and maintaining high standards, rather than becoming complacent with their recent successes. Freshman standout Asa Newell highlighted the team’s commitment to growth, stating, “We’re trying to just raise the standard at Georgia basketball… We just can’t let the outside noise in because that’s poison.”
This return to the AP Top 25 reflects the Bulldogs’ dedication and progress, signaling a promising trajectory for the program as they navigate the competitive landscape of college basketball.
