Farhad Moshiri has maintained contact with Sean Dyche since confirmation of his intention to sell control of Everton.

The club’s majority shareholder has agreed the sale of his 94.1% stake in the Blues to US investment firm 777 Partners.

Key figures from the prospective buyers have attended recent matches at Goodison Park, though the deal remains subject to regulatory approval. The Premier League, Football Association and Financial Conduct Authority all have to sign off on the move.

The discussions that are underway have not changed the extent of interaction between Moshiri and Dyche, however.Since his appointment in late January, the long term direction of Everton has been a constant source of intrigue that Dyche has sought not to be drawn on. The Blues boss has stressed that matters above the football operation at the club do not have a day-to-day impact at Finch Farm, a position he has maintained through the club’s summer talks with MSP Capital and, after that investment deal collapsed, the developments with 777.

Of those talks, Dyche said: “Most of it was very casual to be honest. It was just a feel of what I’ve learned in my time here – and others were involved in the chat of course – but on the football side of things, a feel of what I’ve learned here, the challenges ahead and stuff like that but it was a very casual meeting.”

Nothing has changed the interaction between Moshiri and Dyche as work at Everton continues against the backdrop of the takeover attempt, Dyche said. He said they spoke over the phone on occasion and added: “It is mainly by message. It always has been since I have been at the club to be honest – I still speak to him, he still sends me messages about the games and that type of thing.”
