Percy Lewis, a towering 6-foot-7, 355-pound offensive lineman, has traversed a unique collegiate football journey, making significant impacts at each stop. Hailing from Sallis, Mississippi, Lewis’s path has been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a deep connection to his roots.

Early Life and High School Career

Growing up in the rural town of Sallis, Lewis was immersed in a family deeply involved in horse racing. His grandfather, Percy II, trained and raced pacers, while his father and uncle were also active participants. Despite the family’s equestrian pursuits, Lewis gravitated towards football, showcasing his athleticism and versatility. At McAdams High School, he excelled not only on the football field but also in basketball and track, where he clinched a state title in shot put. His senior football season was particularly impressive, recording 90 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and six quarterback hurries. His defensive prowess earned him a spot on the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 1A All-State First Team. citeturn0search2

Junior College Journey

After high school, Lewis took his talents to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), where he played during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. His performance at MGCCC caught the attention of major programs, leading to his transfer to Mississippi State University. citeturn0search2

At Mississippi State, Lewis’s collegiate career began to flourish. Over two seasons (2022-2023), he appeared in 25 games, starting eight. In his senior year (2023), he primarily played left tackle, contributing to the team’s offensive line. His efforts were recognized with a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. citeturn0search2

Transfer to Auburn University

In January 2024, Lewis made the decision to transfer to Auburn University, seeking a fresh start and the opportunity to further develop his skills. He enrolled in January and quickly became a key figure on the offensive line. During the 2024 season, he started five games at left tackle, playing a total of 308 snaps. His performance was solid, but he faced competition for the starting position, leading to a reduction in playing time as the season progressed. citeturn0search4
