Derby County head coach Paul Warne has voiced his opinion on the scenes at full-time following his side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town.
Nelson was in the thick of the action in the first period, as it was he who was adjudged to have fouled Max Mata, despite it being debatable that the contact was made outside of the area. Ultimately, Tom Bayliss skied his spot kick, much to the relief of all those in a Black and White persuasion
However, their hosts started the second half with the same intent and with 11 minutes of the half gone, the experienced Conor Hourihane had the misfortune of guiding Taylor Perry’s cross past Joe Wildsmith.
From then on, Derby struggled to fashion many openings, with the best falling to Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. Ultimately, the result and performance fueled anger among the strong contingent of Rams supporters at full-time, with players such as Hourihane in consultation with them after the final whistle.
What has Paul Warne said about the scenes at full-time?
Warne has stated that he understands the disappointment and frustration of the Derby supporters at the Croud Meadow on Saturday, even though it “wasn’t ideal” , he told BBC Derby’s ‘Rams Daily’ podcast.
“No one goes into work to get dog’s abuse, but I understand it as well. They were disappointed with our level of performance and I know how emotional football is. If you were in our dressing room afterwards you’d see lads who are emotional with eachother.
“Of course I understand it, I can’t say that I like it but then if you want fans to get behind you when we’re winning and they’re emotional, the downside is if things aren’t going well they’ll also be emotional.” Warne continued
