Motherwell v Rangers - Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership

Unpopular former Exeter City winger has recently had a drug test, and he is in for a long……..

The Northern Ireland international winger, 28, sparked jubilant scenes when he came off the bench to score deep into injury time in a 2-0 victory over the Grecians.

The goal comes after a lengthy injury lay-off for Jordan Jones, who had been handed a reprieve by new Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney in the summer.Motherwell v Rangers - Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership

It comes with the winger spending his two years at the Latics largely out on loan, Jones spending the last two seasons back in Scotland with St Mirren and Kilmarnock.

Taking to the platform formerly known as Twitter following the match, Jordan Jones expressed his emotional delight as he marks his return from the calf problem with his first Wigan goal.

In the message, Jordan Jones said:

“Brilliant win. I’ve never felt emotion like that after any goal in my career but I just want to thank all the boys, staff and fans for the support, I think you can see from them celebrations what it meant to everyone and hopefully it’s the first of many.”

Jordan Jones off the mark for Wigan after doomed Rangers stint

Rangers fans will remember Jordan Jones from his time with Kilmarnock and then at Ibrox under the management of Steven Gerrard.

Scoring an infamous goal against the Ibrox side in a 2-1 defeat at Rugby Park in 2019 – after securing a pre-contract at the club – Jones never managed to replicate that sort of form in Govan.Motherwell v Rangers - Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership

In fact the winger’s time in Glasgow was marred with controversy after a needless red card in a 2-0 Old Firm defeat at Ibrox not only angered Gerrard but injured the winger in the process.

Attitude problems are said to have marred the talented attacker’s Rangers stint and this culminated in a now infamous ban for Covid-19 breaches back in 2020.
