The Premier League’s intentions for a big TV schedule shake-up are said to be affecting Wolverhampton Wanderers.
So far this season, one game has been shown live on Monday or Friday night, with an early kick-off and late kick-off frequently sandwiching the 3pm games on Saturday, and two games have been broadcast live on Sunday. However, The Telegraph reports that this will change.
According to reports, 25% more Premier League games will be shown live. This brings the total number of games available to watch on Sundays to four, one of which will begin off at 6:30 p.m.
The Saturday 3pm embargo for women’s football is apparently poised to be lifted in an effort to increase viewing figures. A meeting is said to have taken place in London on Monday to progress discussions of establishing the first billion-pound women’s football league.
According to reports, a private equity corporation dubbed ‘NewCo’ will oversee the top two women’s divisions independently. To increase viewership numbers, discussions are underway to move women’s football kickoffs from 6:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
In the midst of negotiations, five sets of 50 match packs are expected to be put out to bid next month. Another meeting is set for Thursday, where plans for rights sales are expected to be reviewed.
