As the 2024 NFL season concludes, the Dallas Cowboys are poised to make strategic moves in the upcoming offseason to strengthen their roster. With several key players set to become free agents and areas of need identified, the Cowboys are expected to target specific positions to enhance their competitiveness.

1. Wide Receiver: Stefon Diggs

The Cowboys have long been linked to Stefon Diggs, the talented wide receiver and brother of Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs. After a successful tenure with the Buffalo Bills, Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans in the 2024 offseason. However, his season was cut short due to a torn ACL, leading to his release. At 31 years old, Diggs is expected to be available in free agency, potentially at a more affordable rate due to his injury history. His proven track record and familiarity with the Cowboys’ defensive schemes make him an intriguing option to bolster the receiving corps.

2. Running Back: Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones, formerly of the Green Bay Packers, has been a consistent performer in the NFL. After his release from the Packers, Jones signed with the Minnesota Vikings, where he has continued to showcase his abilities. Despite being 30 years old, Jones has demonstrated that he still possesses the skills to contribute significantly to an offense. His experience and versatility could provide the Cowboys with a reliable option in the backfield, complementing their existing running backs.

3. Defensive End: Chase Young

Chase Young, the former second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has faced challenges in his career but remains a player with high potential. After stints with the Washington Commanders and the New Orleans Saints, Young has shown flashes of his former dominance. At 25 years old, he still has the potential to develop into a formidable pass rusher. The Cowboys could target Young on a short-term deal, providing him with an opportunity to revitalize his career while adding depth to their defensive line.

4. Defensive Tackle: Poona Ford

Poona Ford, a defensive tackle formerly with the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins, has been recognized for his versatility and consistent performance. His ability to play multiple positions along the defensive line would provide the Cowboys with valuable depth and flexibility. Given the Cowboys’ interest in bolstering their defensive front, Ford could be a strategic addition to their roster.
