The Blues were without both Wes Burns and Freddie Ladapo at Ashton Gate, where they picked up all three points thanks to Nathan Broadhead’s first half strike.

Burns injured his shoulder on international duty while playing for Wales, while Ladapo has been struggling with an ongoing Achilles issue that required an assessment last week.

However, there is optimism that both will be back in action sooner rather than later, with specialists providing good news regarding the two attackers.Kieran McKenna is hoping to see Wes Burns back in action before the end of November (Image: Ross Halls)

“Wes had a good report from the specialist,” McKenna said after the match.

“The specialist is hopeful that he won’t need surgery.

“If that’s the case, it’ll be a different sort of rehabilitation and we’ll have him back around the [November] international break, which would be a pretty good outcome from where we were.Kieran McKenna is hoping to see Wes Burns back in action before the end of November (Image: Ross Halls)

“Freddie’s progressing well. He wasn’t ready for tonight, but we’ll see how he is in the next few days.”
