West Ham 3-1 Chelsea - Michail Antonio scores stunner as 10-man Hammers beat rivals in entertaining London derby - Eurosport

BREAKING NEWS:Billy McKinlay Assistant Manager OF WEST HAM RESIGN ON…….

This comes amid concerns that further crowd trouble in the Europa League clash would lead to Hammers fans being banned from attending the away trip to Backa Topola, as they were for the trip to Freiburg [Sean Whetstone, 24 October].

Speaking to the media ahead of the Europa League clash, as shared on West Ham’s official YouTube channel, Moyes was asked about the fans, when he said: “They’ve got great support here, fantastic enthusiasm.

“It’s great, isn’t it? To come to a football city in which the football really matters. That’s what you want, you want the passion, you want the atmosphere. But we also want good behaviour, from our supporters and from Olympiacos supporters.West Ham 3-1 Chelsea - Michail Antonio scores stunner as 10-man Hammers beat rivals in entertaining London derby - Eurosport

“It’s really important that everybody works well together and we end up having a good night.”

The boss was then asked about the security concerns ahead of the game, and he commented: “All we want is a good football game.

“It’s great that you have passionate supporters, but to be a passionate supporter as well. You’re not helping your club, and that includes our supporters as well. You have to be passionate, you have to be enthusiastic.

“Support your team well, but you’re not doing your club any favours if you’re getting bans or stadium bans, or if your team gets thrown out of Europe for example. You have to be well-behaved, and we want the supporters to be that.”

Fans will be punished

As UEFA have already shown West Ham fans earlier this season, they will not stutter when it comes to handing out bans and preventing supporters from attending away fixtures, if there is any crowd trouble in their European clashes.

It has become clear so far this season that UEFA are focusing their attention on quelling any potential crowd trouble in their fixtures, handing out bans, fines and punishments to clubs and fans at the first sign of trouble in the stands.

Bayern Munich fans recently displayed a banner in protest of the punishments imposed by the governing body, calling for UEFA to stop punishing fans so heavily. The German fans blasted UEFA for referring to fans as the lifeblood of the game despite their clear stance otherwise.

At the end of the day, it’s the fans that suffer as a result of their actions. It’s important to be on your best behaviour, as Moyes warned, or suffer the punishment that arrives afterwards.
