49ers will not be happy with what Daniel Farke did in Leeds United loss v Stoke
It was a night to forget for Leeds United and Daniel Farke after falling to a 1-0 defeat against Stoke City on Wednesday 25 October.
The Whites fell further behind Ipswich and Leicester in the automatic promotion spots of the Championship, with the gap starting to look frightening
Farke may have some questions to answer.
Bamford had missed his last two penalties before this one, quite convincingly too, so why he was on this one, it really does have everyone scratching their heads.
The 49ers Enterprises will not be best pleased either, given that they pumped £10million-plus into a new number nine in the form of Joel Piroe, who had already been dragged off.
What is worse, is that Patrick Bamford had the chance to put Leeds ahead from the penalty spot, only for him to blaze over and then watch a Pascal Struijk own-goal put his side behind minutes later.
Piroe was signed to score goals, that is what he does so for him to be dragged off early instead of someone like Georginio Rutter is baffling.
The Dutchman would have been licking his lips to put that penalty away and put Leeds on their way to another three points, but that wasn’t to be.
Poor.
Rotation or not, Piroe simply has to be on the pitch when Leeds are chasing goals to win games.
Farke can take his number seven off and give him a rest in games when his side are already winning, something which should be happening more often than it is.
Instead, we are being forced to put our faith in a struggling Bamford, who has never been the same since that first year back in the Premier League which was followed by constant injuries.
Hopefully, this was a lesson learned by Farke, and with the 49ers potentially not happy, let’s hope that it’s not too late in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
