Douglas Luiz to exit Aston Villa for ‘£100m minimum’ amid Arsenal and tottenham interest
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Douglas Luiz would command a fee of £100million this January after his excellent form for Aston Villa, according to Ty Bracey.
The 25-year-old has netted six times in all competitions this season, including a brace in Villa’s 4-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday (22 October), and his high-level performances have unsurprisingly led to Champions League clubs showing interest.
Arsenal have been long-time admirers of the Brazilian, but as reported by 90min (23 October), the Gunners could revive their interest this January after their failed summer bid. Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the midfielder but their £25million offer was nowhere near Villa’s valuation.
Bracey claims that any potential buyer would have to hand over a nine-figure sum to even have a chance of signing Luiz, with his quality for Villa making this value a “no-brainer”.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It’s only a matter of time before the Champions League clubs come knocking, but it’s life. When players are performing at the highest level like that, it’s only normal to get interest.”
“It’s £100million minimum if you want him. He doesn’t really have a price tag for me, but you’re talking in the nine-figure range.
“That’s a no-brainer. If Arsenal want him they’re going to have to pay it, simple as that.”
