Update on David Moyes’ sacking as West Ham United development emerges, he ‘may be gone’

David Moyes could be sacked by West Ham if they lose their next three games, according to Sean Whetstone.

The 6foot2 editor tweeted on Sunday (29 October) that the “six-lose rule” is now in play for the Hammers boss after suffering three straight defeats following the 1-0 loss to Everton, with the games against Arsenal,

He added that the Scotsman would “most likely” also be handed the fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Burnley to “stop the loss rot”, but conceded that “no manager can survive a long run of defeats in a row”

“Six-lose rule in play,” said Whetstone. “If we lose against Arsenal, Olympiacos and Brentford, David Moyes could be gone.

“Although [he is] most likely to get Notts Forest and Burnley too to stop the loss rot but no manager can survive a long run of defeats in a row.”

Deserves time

There have already been calls amongst some of the West Ham fans for Moyes to be sacked, but it’s far too early for that just yet.

The Hammers manager has far too much credit in the bank on the back of the past few seasons to be relieved of his duties after just one bad week.

The performances do have to improve, though, if the Scot doesn’t want to be facing questions about his job after the display against Everton simply wasn’t good enough.

The Irons have stopped doing the simple bits well and, while they haven’t looked as threatening going forward over the past couple of games, the defending has been pretty poor as well.

Moyes does deserve time to turn things around, but if the run of defeats does continue, then the board will have a decision to make before too long.
