There’s buzz in the air as a spectacular attacker returns tonight, providing us with some attacking alternatives.

There’s a chance we might see Jack Vale start as well, giving us something that looks a lot like a proper attack for the first time in a couple of months. Haks and the rest of the stand-in players have done a good job, better than we expected, but getting some proper attackers back is going to be a big boost.

With the controversy surrounding Mark Kennedy’s comments about Danny Mandroiu and the eagerness for us to see Jack Vale back, you may have missed some significant injury news this week. All eyes have been on Danny’s pre-match interview, but it was Tom Shaw who made a revelation we should all applaud. He was asked about squad fitness and whether we had injury concerns off the back of the 1-1 draw with Exeter City at the weekend.

“Everything seems pretty good, to be honest, and Tyler Walker was back on the grass today, which was a great sight,” Tom said in his pre-match interview.

Yep, that’s right. Tyler Walker is back on the grass. It might still mean he’s a few weeks away from an appearance and maybe a month or so away from a start, but our big summer signing is back on the grass as he looks to return from his injury.

It’s been frustrating for Tyler since he came back to the club – he managed just two league starts, with two more appearances from the bench, before he was struck down by injury in September. With Ben House also being out for a spell, Tyler would have had a run of games, but it was not to be.

Walker scored 16 goals in a four-month stay at Sincil Bank back in 2019. In the (almost) four years since, he has scored just 13. He’ll be hoping to remedy that by getting a prolonged run in the team, and with Ben House expected to be out well into 2024, Walker’s return is music to the ears of Imps fans everywhere.
