The Whites are gearing up for their toughest game of the season so far as they travel to Leicester City on Friday, knowing that defeat sets them back hugely in the pursuit of a top two finish.
A major obstacle for Leeds in their quest for an instant return to the top flight is the January window, where a number of key players at the club will see speculation rife.
Ampadu, Summerville, and Gnonto attracting interest?
Football Insider are now reporting that three players at Elland Road are starting to gather attention from the Premier League, as January nears.
Those three players are Ethan Ampadu, Crysencio Summerville, and Willy Gnonto, with the identities of the clubs interested in the trio unnamed at this stage.
Gnonto, out of those players, appears the most likely of anyone to leave the club, after he infamously refused to play back in August before handing in a transfer request – Leeds stood firm in the face of £25million interest from Everton.
Summerville was another that attracted transfer offers from the top flight, as Leeds rebuffed a late bid from newly-promoted Burnley amounting to £20million.
Ampadu, meanwhile, only joined the club for £7million plus add-ons in the summer from Chelsea, penning a four-year deal until 2027.
If the club are in a position where sales are needed in January in order to fund more incoming to strengthen, there’s only one player here that could leave.
That man is obviously Gnonto, who not only tried to leave in August, but also hasn’t looked like the main man so far.
Leeds cannot afford to even consider letting Summerville or Ampadu leave, given they have been two of the best players in the division this season.
They are too good for the league, but at the moment, having that sort of quality is what will contribute to us getting out of the league.
