FOOTBALL – Robins insists Coventry City rebuild will ‘take time’

MARK Robins insists Coventry City’s rebuild is ‘going to take time’ after the Sky Blues suffered a third straight league defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

City have endured a difficult start to the campaign and lost their first home game of the season against the Baggies as goals in either half from Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante proved decisive at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The defeat leaves the Sky Blues 20th in the Championship table and boss Robins insists confidence will come following an overhaul of the squad in the summer.

Robins said: “It’s never nice to lose games and you’re not in the game to lose games.

“The difficulty is always when you’ve had success that we’ve had over the last few years everybody expects

“We’ve got good players here and good players that are technically very, very good.

“We’ve just got a little bit of a lack of confidence in certain areas but that will come.”

West Brom took the lead on 17 minutes when Ben Wilson failed to hold Nathaniel Chalobah’s shot from distance and Diangana controlled the loose ball before finishing from close range.

And Albion sealed the points on 69 minutes when Thomas-Asante beat the offside trap and produced a clinical finish into the top right corner of the goal from Matt Phillips’s pass.

Coventry are next in action away at Preston North End on Saturday, November 4 with kick-off at 3pm at Deepdale.
