Saturday 04 November 2023 04:30

Marcus Rashford’s absence from Manchester United’s Premier League meeting with Fulham has been explained.

Our no.10 misses out on the visit to Craven Cottage, as the Reds aim to recover from consecutive home defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Rashford travelled with the rest of the team but the Mancunian forward will not be involved in west London, due to injury.

Marcus took a heavy knock to his leg in training and was unable to finish the last session before the game.

The England international underwent a fitness test this morning, when it was decided he was unable to play.

In his pre-match interview with TNT Sports, Erik ten Hag confirmed: “He was travelling with us but he didn’t make it. He was tested this morning but [his leg] wasn’t good enough. He’s not fit.”

Erik ten Hag has made six changes from the side which exited the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka making his first start for the club since early September after injury.

He comes into the backline for Sergio Reguilon, while Victor Lindelof is absent through illness, with Jonny Evans partnering Harry Maguire in central defence.

Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay feature in a new-look midfield – Casemiro is another player to miss out with an injury – while Rasmus Hojlund starts up front as he hopes to open his Premier League account.

United XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Evans, Dalot; McTominay, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.

Subs: Bayindir, Reguilon, Varane, Amrabat, Mount, Pellistri, Mainoo, Hannibal, Martial.
