BREAKING NEWS:ENZO MARESCAS HAVE BEEN SACKED FOR SANCTIONING THE SALE OF SUPER STAR….
Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as we take a look at the next block of fixtures to see who has the best and worst runs in the race to catch the Foxes.
Runaway leaders Leicester City have made a record-breaking start to life back in the Championship as they continue to look favourites for a swift return to the Premier League. Enzo Maresca’s Foxes suffered only their second defeat of the season on Friday night when Leeds United plundered the full three points at the King Power Stadium to cut the gap to the top to eleven points.
Fellow high-flyers Ipswich Town also dropped points, needing a late Marcus Harness equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw against Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City. Looking to the fixtures ahead, City’s rivals will be watching to see if they will bounce back or whether their automatic promotion rivals can make a fight of things.
Fellow relegated Leeds and Southampton – currently in third and fourth place, respectively – pose the biggest threat on paper, perhaps, given their squad strength and parachute payment spending power, while Ipswich Town are the current surprise package of the division after only gaining promotion back to the Championship last term.
