Tony Mowbray’s striker troubles at Sunderland could be solved by a forgotten Premier League exile.

Sunderland have failed to score with a recognised striker so far this season.

It is well documented that Sunderland are in desperate need of a goal-scoring striker, with none of their recognised strikers scoring so far this season

The last recognised striker to score for the Black Cats was Ross Stewart when he scored against Middlesbrough in January before his injury curtailed the rest of his season.

Since his departure to Southampton at the end of the summer transfer window, Sunderland have had plenty of problems up front, with winger Jack Clarke being the man scoring all the goals for Tony Mowbray’s side this season.

All the summer signings like Nazariy Rusyn, Mason Burstow and Luis Hemir Semedo have all failed to hit the ground running so far.

The Black Cats have recently been linked with signing striker Ali Al Hamadi from AFC Wimbledon in their attempts to solve their striking problems.

Wales international could solve striker problems

The Wales international is currently at Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The £15k-a-week star has only made five appearances for the Cherries so far this season, failing to score.

He is struggling to get in the team over Dominic Solanke, who has recently signed a new contract.

Mowbray has said he wants a striker to be able to run in behind whilst also playing in the pockets.

Sunderland have had to play this way in the absence of having a striker, but Moore could do both.

Moore is proven at Championship level and is prolific. He scored nine goals in 15 starts for Bournemouth as they were promoted in 21/22.

He scored 20 goals the season before that for Cardiff City, too.

He could be available for loan in January, meaning Sunderland would not have to pay a fee for him.
