In a recent report, talkSPORT mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are set to revive their interest in Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to secure the services of the English centre-back in the upcoming January transfer period.
Kelly is having a solid campaign at the Vitality Stadium as he has managed to produce a string of solid displays at the centre of Bournemouth’s defence. The 25-year-old has been involved in eight matches for the Cherries this season but is still waiting to score or create a goal for them across various competitions.
The English talent has been a solid presence on the defensive end of the pitch based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 79.1% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Kelly is under contract at Bournemouth until the end of this campaign. Hence, it makes sense for Spurs to arrange a cut-price move for him when the transfer window reopens at the start of January.
Is Kelly A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Kelly is a decent tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
Standing at 1.90m, the English sensation can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels inside his half. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.
We can expect Kelly to inject more bite and steel into Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He would even help Spurs challenge across all fronts over the next few years.
At 25, Kelly has his best years ahead of him. Hence, he would be a good fit for the North London club‘s needs in the long run. The English defensive ace already knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadiu
