West Ham would be “bonkers” to sack David Moyes amid the speculation around his position at the London Stadium, according to Darren Bent.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (6 November), the pundit pointed to the situation Crystal Palace have found themselves in after returning to “what they know” when Roy Hodgson came in to replace Patrick Viera last season.

He added that he hopes the Hammers boss receives the “reception he deserves” once he does leave the club on the back of his achievements over the past few years in East London after it has emerged that he will not be sacked even if they do lose to Nottingham Forest on Sunday (12 November)You Ask The Questions: Darren Bent – "It was the biggest slap in the face to miss out on England. “I think it’s bonkers to want him to go, but then I don’t watch West Ham week in, week out,” said Bent. “Look at Palace, they tried to go a completely different route with (Patrick) Viera and (Frank) De Boer and they went back to what they know. Hodgson comes in and does what he does.

“But I think for David Moyes when he does leave the club because he will do, I hope he gets the kind of reception he deserves because sixth, seventh, win the Europa Conference League and then 11th at the minute, what an achievement tha

It’s a tricky situation that West Ham find themselves in as Moyes has had unbelievable success at the club compared to any of the managers in previous years.

But those achievements have increased the expectations at the London Stadium and now he is expected to compete in the top half of the Premier League every year and, potentially, qualify for Europe.

There will be some that would suggest he should have the job for as long as he wants after winning the Europa Conference League last season, but that isn’t realistic as the club looks to continue making strides forward.

Although the Scot has earned time to turn things around and it seems as though he will be given that, the performances in the league must improve on the back of a couple of disappointing results.

The Irons boss has come under pressure before and managed to deal with it so, hopefully, he can manage to do that again and pick up some positive results over the next few games to start moving in the right direction.
