Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk has been claimed to have seen his price tag slashed by a further £2.6million since the summer, but that’s surely not the case.

The Whites have changed a great deal since they were relegated from the Premier League, with the playing squad one of the most important and necessary overhauls.

In defence, Leeds simply had to improve under Daniel Farke, and they have with new signings, but also with the improvement of players like Pascal Struijk

What’s the latest on Pascal Struijk?

Having signed a new deal back in December 2022, Struijk was subject to interest in the summer window – confirmed by Angus Kinnear to have materialised with offers in the “low teens”.

Since then, the defender has become a vital cog in Farke’s promotion chasing side, captaining Leeds on multiple occasions as both Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling see their importance wane.

However, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has now claimed on the Unibet Belgium YouTube channel that Struijk’s value has since decreased from the summer.

He shares that the 49ers are now asking for £13.1million instead of the £15.7million commanded in the summer, and that Struijk is also ready to leave as Club Brugge remain keen.

Where will Leeds finish in 23/24?

Is that likely to be true?

Already, this doesn’t tie up with what Kinnear has told us about the value of his offers in the summer, given that we rejected an offer in the low teens, which is what we’re supposedly asking for now.

Struijk is contracted until 2027, so we have no reason to sell at a cut-price, especially for someone that is only 24.

Having been given the armband for numerous games this season, the defender has come into his own to the point where Leeds need to be building their side around him, and the club will be thinking that too.

They won’t be slashing his price tag by £2.6million that much is certain, and it’s also fairly obvious that Struijk doesn’t want to leave either.

If there is any chance of the centre-back heading out in the January window, you’re going to be looking at an offer that is double that of a “low teens” bid, given that he’s arguably been the best centre-back in the league this season.
