The 27-year-old has featured heavily for Burnley and Bristol City over the years, and scored twice in 11 games this season with his side struggling at the bottom of the table.

With Burnley looking set to suffer relegation barring a miracle, and Brownhill’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, he has now attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides. However, signing him may now prove to be more difficult.

A report from TEAMtalk has revealed that Crystal Palace are among the club keeping a close eye on Brownhill, but Burnley are set to activate a one-year extension in his contract, with the view to offering him a new deal.

Whilst this means that interested parties will not be able to sign him for free in the summer, he could still be available if he refuses to extend his deal, but it is unclear what kind of fee would be necessary.

Burnley have already decided to activate his extension, with West Ham and Wolves among the clubs Palace would be competing with for his signature.
