The Texas Rangers announced on Friday that they non-tendered two players on their 40-man roster, allowing them to become free agents. Those two players were pitchers Matt Bush and Brett Martin. The Rangers also announced that they tendered contract offers to each of the other 27 eligible players on the roster. The club already has eight players under contract for 2024. Those players already under contract are pitcher Jacob deGrom, pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, pitcher Jon Gray, pitcher Andrew Heaney, pitcher José Leclerc, pitcher Max Scherzer, shortstop Corey Seager, and second baseman Marcus Semien. Bush ended up tagging along for the Rangers’ run to its first World Series title. Traded to Milwaukee for prospect Antoine Kelly last year, Bush returned to the Rangers in July and ended up on the active roster for the season’s final two games, along with the AL Wild Card Series and the AL Division Series. He went 2-0 with a 2.64 ERA (9 ER/30.2 IP) over 24 minor league appearances. Martin spent the entire season on the Rangers’ 60-day Injured List after having left shoulder surgery on January 18.
