Luton Town – Back On The Carabao Cup Trail
This Tuesday evening, the Hatters can step back from the Premier League as they resume their Carabao Cup campaign.
After edging past Gillingham, at Kenilworth Road, in the second round, by the odd goal in five, the draw wasn’t that favourable when it came to our third round opponents with Luton Town being given the long trip to take on Exeter City.
A round trip of circa 500 miles is hardly something to look forward to, in midweek, especially for those who hold down full time jobs.
But, I’ve no doubt the loyal Luton travelling support will be there backing their side.
It is a game that Luton Town should win, after all we only have to take a look at their result in the EFL Trophy last week.
Entertaining Reading, Exeter City rested several of their players and were on the end of a humiliating 9-0 defeat with if being Reading’s biggest win since the 1920’s.
However, as we know, football can be a funny old game and, to be honest, I’m not expecting Luton Town to come back to leafy Bedfordshire with such a convincing win, indeed, any win would do me.
When it comes to Rob Edwards’ team selection, it will be interesting to see the starting XI the gaffer opts for.
Will Rob see this game as the perfect opportunity or his preferred starting XI to get a huge confidence boost or will those on the fringes of Premier League action be given the chance to shine, with the boss having one-eye on what will be a tough fixture, at Goodison Park, this coming weekend?
My view is that it’ll be a shadow XI, with the big-hitters given a chance to rest up ahead of the Everton game.
But are any of our readership prepared to second guess Rob’s thoughts and predict the starting XI, at St James Park, this Tuesday evening?
