what occur during and after their match that result in…
The Raptors were feeling good after an impressive 108-100 win over a Phoenix Suns team that had won seven straight and had Kevin Durant back in the lineup:
Darko Rajakovic on Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby locking down the Phoenix stars:
“I thought that (Barnes) and (Anunoby) did an outstanding job on one of the best duos in the league in Durant and Booker, really proud of the job that he did today … It was physicality during the whole game that paid off. OG did a really good job from the jump of being physical with (Durant), making it very uncomfortable for KD to catch the ball outside his zone and also his size and his ability to contest those shots, he made him miss some of those.”
Scottie Barnes on why he’s so good in fourth quarters:
“I don’t know. I got that dog in me. I get real energized. I just found the rhythm today, just had it going. Found something and just kept sticking with it, being aggressive. It was working.”
Rajakovic on getting Barnes going earlier:
“It’s a long game. It’s 48 minutes game. For sure we would like Scottie to be non-stop every play, but we’re constantly addressing that to him that we need him like that in the first quarter, in the second quarter, in the third quarter. It’s just like when the game is on the line, you have players and Scottie is one of those guys, you just see in his eyes that he’s like ultra focused and ready. He loves the moment. He’s embracing the moment and he’s ready to go out there and do whatever it takes, is that assist, is that the offensive rebound, is that a blocked shot?”
Barnes on Dennis Schroder nutmegging Durant (going through his legs on a pass):
“That was fire. I was like, it was in transition, I saw him throw it to him, I was like, ‘oh, damn.’ It was a good play.”
Barnes on his improved shot:
“I’m very confident in my shot. I feel like I’m shooting the ball really well. I didn’t shoot that many today, but I’m going to be confident in my shot no matter what. If you close out short, go under screens, I’m confident that I’m shooting the ball … Yeah. They’ve been having some more urgency closing out … But some teams still, you know, I guess they don’t respect it. So you’ve just got to make them pay.”
Pascal Siakam on the Raptors trying to find themselves:
“I don’t think it matters who the opponent is, we just have to be consistent in what we do. We find ourselves in certain games with low energy or sometimes it’s not, we’re not making the right plays, or we’re not making shots, or we’re making turnovers. I feel like it’s a combination of lots of things. Once we’re locked in it doesn’t really matter how we play, I think we’ve just got to continue to find our chemistry.”
Suns coach Frank Vogel on the game:
“They played a terrific basketball game and took us out of a lot of stuff we wanted to do … We didn’t do a good enough job screening for (Durant), getting him open. He was forced to do too much one-on-one, too much on his own. We’ve got to do better with that.”
Durant on the game:
“I don’t feel like I’m ever out of rhythm. I just missed shots. I just think the lid was on the basket tonight. I feel like we got good looks, we just didn’t finish.”
