New York defensive tackle Quinnen Williams had something on his mind besides the end of the Jets’ five-game losing streak on Sunday.

After New York defeated the Houston Texans 30-6, the former Wenonah High School standout and Alabama All-American took his concerns to social media.

“I pray C.J. is OK,” Williams wrote. “Everyone know I’m not a dirty player or trying to hurt a great, elite QB like him or any player in the league. I play hard, and I play fair. Again, I pray C.J. is OK and wish him nothing but the best.”

On a second-and-10 snap from the Houston 25-yard line, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud connected with former Alabama wide receiver John Metchie III for a 6-yard gain. But Stroud took a hit from Williams on the play that left the rookie QB writhing on the ground with 6:24 remaining.

The back of Stroud’s helmet had hit the turf hard when Williams knocked down the quarterback. While Stroud was able to walk off the field after being attended to by the Texans’ training staff, he did not return to the game.

After the game, Houston coach DeMeco Ryans said Stroud had entered the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Williams recorded three tackles, one sack and two quarterback hits in Sunday’s game, which provided the Jets with their first victory since a 13-10 overtime win against the New York Giants on Oct. 29. The Jets hadn’t scored more than 20 points in a game since Oct. 8, when New York defeated the Denver Broncos 31-21.
