Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in. Once the Dallas Cowboys lost, and that’s a kind word for what happened up in Buffalo, all hope was lost for winning the NFC East. We were resigned to the Cowboys finishing as the fifth seed and entering the playoffs as a wild card team.
Then the Philadelphia Eagles played on Monday night and somehow lost a game they had in hand to the Seattle Seahawks. A path to the NFC East championship opened up again and we were all back to determining tiebreakers between Dallas and Philly.
The Cowboys will still need the Eagles to drop a game among their last three games, two against the New York Giants and one against the Arizona Cardinals. So while the Cowboys are back in first in the NFC East, they still do not control their destiny. They did pick up the ability to lose a game as long as it’s not the finale against the Washington Commanders, and if the Eagles also lose one, Dallas will then win the tiebreakers.
