Stockport boss Dave Challinor praised Isaac Olaofe after the ex-Millwall striker bagged a hat-trick in last Saturday’s 5-0 win against Wrexham.

The 23-year-old South Londoner joined the League Two side last January, with Millwall including sell-on and buy-back clauses in the deal.

Olaofe opened his account against Wrexham in the 21st minute and wrapped up his hat-trick five minutes into the second half.

The former Sutton loanee has picked up five goals in his first nine League Two outings this season.

It was Olaofe’s first senior hat-trick at EFL level.

“He’s young to the Football League, so I don’t think put that as a slant on him,” admitted Challinor.

“There will be better players than Tanto who go through their whole careers without scoring a Football League hat-trick – it’s difficult to do.

“He took himself out of his comfort zone when he came here.

“He came from down south to up here, to a team that was strong in terms of it’s squad – he backed himself.

“He’s a really good kid. He’s only a kid with a bright future ahead of him.

“He needs to sharpen up on bits of his game. But he has the raw attributes that defenders hate.

“He has pace, power and a willingness to never give up.

“That in itself will get him a good way up the pyramid.“We constantly want to try to get him better. But for him to get a hat-trick will give him great belief.”
