Everton transfer news: 777 Partners wants West Brom’s Tom Fellows – Fabrizio Romano.
West Brom youngster Tom Fellows is a target for Everton with a possible free transfer in the summer on the cards, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via Twitter on 10 January that prospective new Toffees owners 777 Partners “like” the 20-year-old and are considering a move to sign him and then loan him back out.
The Baggies attacker’s contract at The Hawthorns is set to expire at the end of the season but he has been “excellent” so far this term in the Championship.
Romano wrote: “Everton are monitoring 2003 born talent Tom Fellows at WBA over potential summer move, as he’s out of contract in June.
“He’s been excellent for WBA this season, also scored first goal in FA Cup. 777 Partners like the player and could consider to sign then loan Fellows.”
It is perhaps little surprise that Everton are interested in Fellows, with his versatility and his potential lack of transfer fee making him attractive.
The fact that he is apparently someone that 777 Partners are eyeing as a prospective signing at the end of the campaign clearly depends on whether the Americans actually complete their takeover.
It emerged on 9 January that there was a rival bid on the cards from the US amid an expectation that Josh Wander and Steven Pasko wouldn’t get their buy-out over the line.
Either way the recruitment department at Goodison Park needs to be working with Sean Dyche and looking ahead for avenues to strengthen whoever is in charge come the summer, and, at least for now, low-cost ones are the order of the day.
It sounds like the Toffees aren’t sure that Fellows is ready for the Premier League yet if an immediate loan is on the cards, which is perhaps logical.
He has only made 18 appearances in the Championship, and was on loan in League Two with Crawley Town last term.
But his emergence this season under Carlos Corberan suggests he is on an upward trajectory so he is bound to be sought-after in the summer if West Brom can’t get him tied down to a new contract before then.
